North East India Fashion Week – The Artisans Movement
The sixth version of the North East India Fashion Week, where the Artisans Movement started at Jollang’s Koro Happa River Island on the 18th of November through a series of fascinating designs that were showcased in front of a huge audience.
The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, the chief patron of the event and the MLA Techi Kaso, and a minister of Tripura, Bikash Debbarma, were also among the distinguished guests who were the attendees of the inaugural ceremony of this festival.
CEO and designer Yana Ngoba Chakpu had informed that the three-day festival would be witnessing more than thirty designers and artisans who would be taking over the stage with their unique creations.
One Arunachal is in charge of arranging this fashion extravaganza. It is a registered NGO which is dedicated towards preserving and raising awareness of the cultural and traditional oneness of Arunachal Pradesh.
The flagship event by Yana Ngoba – The North India Fashion Week, the Artisans Movement has been aiming to conduct systematically a line of pilot studies to improve the prospects of empowerment, inclusion, and the quality of life of the weavers and artisans in the Northeastern India. The event would commemorate the movement and showcase the work of all the talented artisans of the Northeast. The three-day event will see the participation of more than 30 weavers and designers.
Discussing this sixth edition of the North East India Fashion Week, the Chairman of One Arunachal Joram Tat said, “Through North East India Fashion Week- The Artisans Movement, we strive to identify artisan role models, boost self-esteem within the artisan community, advocate for their skills, and offer a platform to showcase their unique talents. With the valuable support of our NGO, we are committed to training and promoting the weavers and designers from the region through ongoing skill development and capacity building. This endeavor aims to enhance employability, secure better livelihoods, dignify labor, and establish a brand presence with global market connections.”
