Is It Ok To Go For A Bisexual Test To Confirm Your Bisexuality?
Being aware of your sexuality is one of the key secrets of a healthy relationship. Wondering why?
Our sexualities are the deciding factors behind our attraction to a specific gender or genders. If you are in a committed relationship without being aware if you are at all attracted to them or not, it will make your relationship bumpy in the long run.
Can you imagine spending your entire life with someone that you are not even attracted to? Not only is it unfair to yourself, but also to the one that you are with. So, I would say that even if you are not taking a proper bisexual test before committing to a relationship, it is always better to be aware of your sexuality to exercise the utmost sexual transparency in your relationship.
And if you are keen to know more about a bisexual test or other aspects of bisexuality, you are here at the right place.
In this article, we will explore the depths of bisexuality and how you can get a bisexual test done. So, without any further delay, let us get started!
Are You Aware Of Bisexuality?
Bisexuality is referred to as the “B” in the LGBTQ+ sign. Bisexuality is when a person gets attracted to not only their opposite gender but the same gender as well.
Individuals who identify themselves as bisexual feel a similar kind of attraction towards people of the same gender as they do with the opposite gender.
In short, bisexual people feel attracted to both men and women.
However, this was a fundamental definition of bisexuality as they are quite a diverse group.
While a selected portion of them feel equally attracted to both men and women, some have different ratios of their attraction. This means while you may feel the same level of attraction towards a man and a woman, a fellow individual who also identifies as bisexual may feel a stronger attraction towards either of the genders.
A bisexual person may as well be in a long-term heterosexual relationship. It is totally normal for bisexual people to be in a heterosexual relationship as they feel both emotional and sexual attraction towards both genders.
What Is A Bisexuality Test?
A bisexual test, or a bi test, is yet another sexual orientation test; only it is specified to analyze if an individual is bisexual.
Now, when I say a test, I do not mean a test at the hospital or a clinic. That would be pretty ridiculous now, wouldn’t it? We are not in the 15th century, after all.
A bisexual test is only a written test that you can take on the internet. There are multiple questions that you answer, and accordingly, the website analyzes your answers to tell you if you are bisexual.
A bisexual test will not reflect your gender. It only gives you results over your sexuality, not your gender identity.
However, a bisexual test is not the ultimate way to know if you are bisexual. These tests do not guarantee 100% accurate results. If you ever take one, you will know that different websites may show different results, which will only confuse you even more.
While I am not asking you to completely eliminate the idea of trying out a bisexual test, all I am trying to say is that a bisexual test or sexuality test of any kind is only effective when you have a better understanding of your own sexuality. This way, you would know what to expect from the test and to process it later.
If you are totally unaware, the results might just shock you, and you can just slip into denial, which is the worst thing you can do to yourself.
The infamous “denial” is very popular when it comes to accepting your sexuality. I know because I have been in one for three whole years before I finally had the courage to accept my sexuality with my whole heart.
While I did take a bisexual test, I can guarantee that all you need is to trust your instincts and slowly accept the fact that you are bisexual. That is the best way to find out who you are. No amount of bisexual tests can top self-realization.
Am I Bisexual Quiz
A bisexual test is often a quiz where you either have to write down your answers or select from the options that are given to you.
These questions vary from one website to the other; however, the purpose of the questions of each website is the same – to identify if you are bisexual.
Some of the questions in a bisexual test are:
- “How would you feel if a person of the same gender asked for your number?
- When you think about a long-term relationship, who do you imagine as your partner?
- Have you ever fantasized about someone of the same gender?
- How’s your knowledge of LGBTQ+ pop culture?
- Have you ever kissed someone of the same gender?
- Have you ever had romantic feelings for a friend of the same gender?
- Do people ever ask you if you’re bisexual or queer?
- Have you ever felt “butterflies” around someone of the same gender?
- Why did you decide to take this quiz?
- How do you feel about putting a label on your sexual identity or attraction?
- When you imagine kissing or being intimate with a future partner, how do you feel?
- Have you ever thought your crushes or feelings of attraction were different from other people’s?
- Is a person’s gender a deal-breaker in a future relationship?
- Do you feel like the word “queer” is a good label for you?
- How would you feel if someone refers to you as bisexual?
- What stresses you out the most about identifying as bisexual?”
You can refer to these questions and find the answers by yourself, or you can just go to wikiHow and take the test yourself. The results are quite reliable, and you get a chance to ask more questions about your sexuality if you are somewhat unsatisfied with the answer.
Now that you know what a bisexual test is, it is only fair if I take you through some more details on bisexuality so that you can finally give up on the insecurities and accept who you truly are!
Am I Pansexual Or Bisexual?
You are not the only person that gets confused between bisexuality and pansexuality.
While bisexuality is the attraction for both men and women, pansexuality is definitely not the attraction for pots and pans! Iykyk!
Pansexuality is the sexual orientation where an individual is attracted to every single existing gender, including transgender, cisgender, non-binary, agender, and many others.
While the definitions of bisexuality and pansexuality may seem very similar, the differences are distinct. In many LGBTQ+ communities, the concept of pansexuality and bisexuality may overlap. At the same time, a certain few bisexual individuals may feel attracted towards all genders. The foundation of these two concepts comes down to the personal preferences of individuals.
Let Us Break Some Myths Now
It still surprises me to think how we are here in the 21st century and still cultivate such impractical and unreasonable myths about different sexualities, especially bisexuality.
I don’t think that I will ever understand what there is to not understand. A person who is attracted to both genders. It is as simple as that.
Building certain misconceptions and unreasonable facts around it is extremely disrespectful and disgusting. Biphobia, or homophobia as a whole, is preposterous. While you may not be one among the community, no one has certainly given you the right to disrespect someone who is a part of it.
People, anyway, struggle a lot to come out with their sexualities. You can kindly refrain from traumatizing them even more.
So, if you are here to clear your doubts, you are most welcome to do so. In fact, I would rather congratulate you for taking a step ahead because a lot of people clearly cannot.
So, let us now break some myths surrounding bisexualities!
Bisexual People Only Date Cisgender Men Or Women
I have said this before, and I will say it again. Just because the word has “bi” in the beginning doesn’t mean bisexual people date only men or women.
That is rubbish!
I personally feel the “bi” in bisexual refers to the fact that bisexual people are attracted towards the same sex and other genders as well. Just because someone identifies as bisexual, you must not assume that they are only allowed to date men or women.
You must be more open and thoughtful while trying to understand the attraction variations of bisexuality.
Bisexuality Is Only A Phase, Or Simply Denial
No, they are not! What is wrong with you?
Bisexuality is a legitimate sexual orientation. Gay or lesbian are not the only ones to exist out there. It is extremely biphobic to say that bisexuality is only a phase.
No, not all bisexual people come out as gays or lesbians in the future. It is disheartening how people conceive bisexuality as an experiment or transition.
Yes, it is true that a fair percentage of people who initially came out as bisexual later realized they were gay or lesbian, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that bisexuality is not valid. A lot of people have come out as bisexual and remained the same till the end.
Bisexual People Are More Inclined To Cheat
The more I write these, the more I realize the seriousness of homophobia in our society. And honestly, it is scary.
Just because someone is attracted to both genders does not mean that they cannot remain loyal. I have seen some of the most straight people with partners and kids back at home cheat with not even a hint of shame in their eyes.
So yes, bisexuality, in no way, is related to infidelity!
Only women are bisexual.
Well, no?
Men Are Bisexual Too
Let us please break this stereotype and accept the fact that men can be bisexual, too. They are just less likely to open up about it. Compared to bisexual women and gay men, only 12% of bisexual men have felt comfortable about opening up about their bisexuality.
While there are no concrete answers to this yet, it could be the social stigma that prevents men from openly coming out as bisexual.
The Journey Of Coming Out
The journey of self-discovery and coming out is beautiful and scary as well. We live in a society where Homosexuality is frowned upon.
So, it is not surprising to hear that people feel extremely scared to come out with their own sexualities. The fear of rejection and abandonment is real.
While some of us are open and accepting about our sexualities, a lot of them are not.
Significantly, when we have been growing up believing that only the Prince can marry the Princess or that Barbie only dates Ken, it is tough for us to accept a certain few realities about ourselves.
Coming out is a personal decision. And no one, under any circumstance, can force you to come out if you are not ready.
But if you choose to do so, just know that you have a family of supporters who will always protect you and take a stand for you no matter what.
Georgia Clark, the author of the popular book It Had to Be You, shared her experience of coming out to her mother when she was only 18 years old.
“I came out to my mother at 18, in the coffee shop of a fancy Sydney department store. I’d become a raging student activist, dying my hair blue and getting regrettable facial piercings. I think my mum assumed the fact I’d fallen in love with my best friend would be another attention-seeking phase.”
It is very common for people to assume that rebellious kids go through a phase of bisexuality. It’s deep-rooted and kind of sad.
“It wasn’t: I was deeply, wildly, in love. “Can you tell Dad and William?” I’d mumbled into my iced chocolate, partly to avoid the awkwardness of discussing my sex life with my father and little brother, and partly because I was lazy.”
Well, this was a little fun. We are all lazy creatures, after all.
There is one thing that you must always remember. Before coming out to the world, you need to come out to yourself. That is the biggest step there is. Once you have accepted who you are, nothing else matters.
WRAPPING UP
Bisexuality is just as legit as being gay or lesbian. It is not a phase or a state of confusion. Bisexual people are attracted to two or more genders, and it is totally normal.
A bisexual test is something you can take online and get confirmation if you are bisexual or not. Even if you do not take one, that doesn’t make you any less bisexual.
At the end of the day, accepting yourself is all that matters. Once you do that, all other things will automatically fall into place.
